Years ago Sixty Minutes aired a comprehensive program about the condition of the senior care industry.  Leading Geriatric physicians and interviews with those doing research on the subject provided evidence that there has not been a single Successful solution to senior residential care.  It appears that no matter what the cost and not matter how many luxury amenities are introduced, the bottom line in congregate senior care is still translated as fragmented and isolated from the mainstream of life and for the most part very painful to all family members involved.  The newer creative innovations will carry a stigma of finding better ways to “warehouse the elderly”

Since the creation of Social Security, seniors and their families have given this government program the responsibility to  care for the certain elderly.  Prior to social security, there was an

security, there was an existing unspoken agreement between elders and their children that they would remain in the family.  The elders helped with the children,cooking, cleaning and when they were ill or too fragile to care for themselves, they were cared for by the family.Many childbirths were in the home.  Elders died at the home and the funerals were held at the home.  THE LIFE CYCLE WAS VISIBLE, NATURAL, FREE FROM FEAR  of the life cycle process. The ills of the children and senior

care industry have occurred and continue to occur as the Baby Boomers move to retirement.  The only answer for the family is to return the senor and childcare industries to the family setting..  Obviously this is not possible for most of our families scattered all over by distance and logistics of employment etc.  The Holy Family House concept proposes that the senior care and day care can move closer to this goal by simulating care of the generations together (separate buildings) on the same campus. ( Or the same building-Duplex or adjacent housing).Most children are isolated in their day care and after care environment.  They seldom see elderly.  The elderly are isolated as well in their facilities.  They see no children no young, no more home birthing’s, hardly any pregnant women …

The children in this setting, see no elderly and are left with the message “When you are older and fragile you are put in a home.  When you are ready to die you are put in hospice.  They are not present to witness the life cycle.  Elderly and children see no birthing, no dying and no aging and very little  in the middle. 

It appears that the childcare and senior care facilities are going to remain a requirement for modern society.  Therefore, the only solution left is to prove SIMULATED FAMILY SYSTEMS.

THE HOLY FAMILY HOUSE would serve intergenerational residents by creating an all natural family environment.  The goal is to stive for excellence in the area of senior and childcare by implementing creative and holistic approaches to eliminate the institutional atmosphere replacing it with a simulated natural family atmosphere.  The high lite of this approach could be to encourage celebration and respect for life in all its

Transitional phases, exposing the old and young to these phases in order that they may understand them better without fear, and so contributing to their physical and spiritual well being.
